Winter Is Coming

Winter is Coming

So as the weather takes a turn, the nights get shorter, and thoughts of festivities show up in the shops (actually might be a month or three too late for that one!), it can only mean one thing….Winter 2025/26 season is just around the corner.

This year, our numbers have grown once more, and we have had to expand the season into 4 divisions! Behind the scenes, the League Secretary and Web Admin are beavering away to cope with this dramatic turn of events, and updating systems to handle the demand.

This does mean we have an imbalance with the trophies this year, and, it has been decided that the President’s Cup will go into hibernation for the season. Divisions 1 and 2 will be entering the Fred Dyke Cup, and Divisions 3 and 4 will compete for the Ernie Hills Cup.

Winter is planned to start on 27th October, kicking off with 2 league matches, and the data should be ready on the website by 3rd October if not before.

No Over 50’s competition this season. Note that all player competition knockout rounds, except the Mixed Pairs will be held at the Hill park Memorial WMC.

Also…

There have been a couple of rule amendments to note – these have been presumed before, but we have now stipulated that registration fees are non-refundable, and in player competitions, it is expected that players are from the same league team in the fours, triples and doubles. We’ve not enforced this in the mixed pairs to avoid limiting the entrants.

The Newsletter system should allow you to select Division 4 now, and we are still working on some improvements to the system for the season, as we wanted to get all the information on a single email – there are some technical issues but hoping to have this working soon. The current setup is still running with the addition of Division 4 in the meantime.
